Patravadi Announces October Arts Camp for Children

October 10 to 17 will see a week-long residential Arts Camp on the campus of the Patravadi High School and Vic Hua Hin Theatre. The October Arts Camp aims to have students develop a creative  and assertive discipline along with strong physical health.

Minimum age to enroll is 5 years. Students will be divided into three groups, by age: 5-6 year-olds, 7-11 years old, and 12 and over. Students will receive instruction in areas of breath control, voice projection, body movement, acting, blocking, singing, acrobatics, and showmanship.

Kru Patravadi sets a very high standard, and parents can be assured the their children will receive top-notch training. Her special skill is to get the very best out of young people.

Students will be boarded in the Patravadi High School dormitories, and must follow basic rules for dress and behavior. It’s Official! Jam Season 2010-2011 is Here!

We had wonderful party and a great music session at Ray’s Place on Monday, 27 Sept. Lots of old friends and new friends were on hand. Here are the pictures to prove it!

Mr. Ray has promised us that there will be a music jam at his restaurant every Monday night for the rest of the season. Undoubtedly, when things get more busy there will be sessions on Thursdays also.

Meanwhile, Chez LouLou (next to the railway station) have announced that their season-opener will be held on Wednesday 20 October, and Baan Chang in Cha-Am will rev up their Sunday sessions beginning on 7 November.

New Venue! Baan Sri Kaow Restaurant announces jazz show on 2 October

Baan Sri Kaow (the White House) Restaurant will host the band of Mr. Sompop (Khun Moo) on Saturday 2 October. Khun Moo is first trumpet for the Bangkok Philharmonic, ‘moonlighting’ as a jazz pianist with his own group. I

Ban Sri Kaow (aka Jan Suai) has prepared a package with a set menu of great fresh Mediterranean cuisine. For 900 baht, you get one drink dinner and what promises to be a fine jazz concert.

The menu is as follows. – Parma ham and melon – Spinach soup – Grilled fish fillet or cutlets of lamb with garlic and herbs served with rice pilaf and green salad – Mixed fresh fruits jelly with lemon Sorbets

Wan Restaurant offers live music, Monday 27 September

Scandinavian-born Terrence Newborne, will perform solo piano at “Wan Restaurant“, from 5 to 7 pm, Monday 27 September. Jazz Classics, Evergreens, ballads and blues.

Wan Restaurant is located at 38/34 Hin Lek Fai road, off of Soi 88.

To get there:
1. Go south from Hua Hin train station about 1 km.
2. Take the railway crossing at Soi 88.
2. Take the road to the right, following as it bends left, then straight.
3. Go about 1,5 km, passing a 7/11 and a Family Mart
4. Turn right at Hin Lek Fai Road, where a sign points to Chom Dong Villa.
5. Go 60 yards/metres, and it’s on the left.
Cheap excellent thai and western food, and inexpensive beer. Welcome!

Souay Vista Social Club opens with a bang 28 September

The Souay Vista Social Club and Jam Bar, Hua Hin’s newest music venue, watering hole and social hangout, will have its season launch on Tuesday 28 September with local Rock ‘n’ Roll veterans The Stoned Head Band. It promises to be a smash-up evening of music and fun.

Souay Vista is located on Soi 94, about 8/10’s of a kilometer from Petchkasem Road, turning off just South of the Market Village. After turning onto Soi 94, continue across the railroad tracks and onward. At one point, the road appears to ‘dead-end’, but just turn right and then immediately left to continue. Suoay Vista is on the right about 200 meters beyond this point. Music begins at 9:30 pm.
